The ZIMCHE Participates in 62nd Edition of ZITF

The Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education participated in the historic 62nd edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) held from the 26th to the 30th of April 2022 in Bulawayo.

Running under the theme ‘Rethink, Reimagine, Reinvent Value Chains for Economic Development’, the country’s premier business showcase was officially opened on Friday the 29th of April 2022 by His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Honourable Cde Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The Zimbabwe International Trade Fair provided a unique opportunity for the ZIMCHE to create and enhance brand visibility and awareness among its diverse stakeholders. Additionally, the trade event allowed the ZIMCHE to interact, network and receive valuable feedback from stakeholders.

After a short absence from public exhibitions, the ZIMCHE exhibition ran under a localised sub-theme: ‘Rethinking, Reimagining and Reinventing Quality Assurance Standards in Times of Disruptions’ and attracted visitors from all walks of life. Notable visitors to the ZIMCHE stand included the Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, Hon. Prof. (dr) Amon Murwira, the Deputy Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, Honourable Raymore Machingura, the Director for Higher Education Programmes (HEPs), in the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development, Dr Dennis Murekachiro, ZIMCHE Council member and the Chinhoyi University of Technology Vice-Chancellor, Prof. David J. Simbi, Lupani University, Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Pardon Kuipa and Mr Benjamin Masila, the COMESA Information Resource Centre Head among other senior government officials, institutional heads, captains of industry as well as university and college students, and members of the public.

The ZIMCHE team that took part in the trade event consisted of three representatives, each drawn from the Quality Assurance Practices and Procedures Directorate, the Information Communications Technology unit and the Marketing and Public Relations unit.

According to official information from the organisers, the 62nd Edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair was a resounding success with a 100 % uptake of exhibition space for the first time in many years. Participants comprised local, regional and international exhibitors.
