The Zimbabwe Council For Higher Education (ZIMCHE) held its annual performance and strategic review workshop from the 29th to the 30th of November, 2022. The workshop’s main objectives were to assess the milestones achieved in 2022 in relation to the year’s targets and to set new targets for 2023.
In his address, the ZIMCHE CEO, Professor K. P. Dzvimbo highlighted that the workshop’s purpose was to take stock of the higher education regulator’s performance in 2022, plot a new strategic course for 2023, over and above instilling a culture of performance management. The CEO also took the opportunity to commend all staff for their herculean efforts in 2022 that contributed to the strategic outputs for the year.
In his presentation, workshop facilitator, Mr C. Gono from the Public Service Commission, emphasised the importance of ensuring that the ZIMCHE’s strategic plan is constantly alive and aligned with its operational environment and national priorities as pronounced in the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) and national Vision 2030.
The review and planning process, which was attended by members of the ZIMCHE executive management and employee representatives, was informed by the Integrated Results Based Management System adopted by the Government to foster a high-performance culture within the public service through the implementation of performance contracts. The strategic review and planning session culminated in the revision and production of several key strategic performance management documents, including the draft ZIMCHE 2023 Annual Plan, which sets out performance targets for the coming year.
