OFFICE OF THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
19 June 2019
To: All Vice Chancellors
FINALISATION OF THE ZIMBABWE MINIMUM BODIES OF KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS (MBK/S) LOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL BENCHMARKING
Following the postponement of the workshop on the above subject because most universities were busy with examinations processing, we have redesigned the implementation strategy in a manner that also cuts down on expenses for both ZIMCHE and universities. In the new strategy, we now ask that universities, through their Deans, Chairpersons and Quality Assurance Directors, carry out the local and international benchmarking of all their existing programmes at university level following steps laid out in the accompanying documents. We recommend that we all look at the South African Classification of Educational Subject Matter (CESM) Categories.
We hereby kindly request that Vice Chancellors ask their Deans and Quality Assurance Directors to coordinate the benchmarking in all the Departments. Chairpersons of Departments, in turn, are expected to review their existing programme(s) regulations; complete the MBK/S presentation template; and subsequently submit their MBK/S to their respective Deans. Deans then submit these to the Vice Chancellor’s Office for onward transmission to the CEO, ZIMCHE, on or before the 28th of June 2019.
Once we have collected these, we immediately arrange for a consolidation workshop to be attended by Deans and selected Senior Scholars/Thought Leaders.
Attached to this letter are the following:
- Revised implementation strategy;
- Concept note for the MBK/S rationale;
- MBK/S presentation template; and
- ZIMCATS Document.
We look forward to your usual cooperation.
Yours sincerely
Prof. K.P. Dzvimbo
