The Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE) was established by an Act of Parliament, [Chapter 25:27], in 2006, to promote and co-ordinate education provided by higher and tertiary institutions, superintend over standards, act as a regulator in the determination and maintenance of examinations, academic qualifications and research.
Reporting to the Director, Academic and Institutional Audits and under his guidance, the incumbent shall be expected to assist in the following tasks:
- Data capturing mainly from questionnaires
- Collecting, analyzing and storing data in an organized fashion to ensure that it can be retrieved efficiently when needed
- Reviewing data and making recommendations based on research findings
- Analysing data to identify trends, patterns or opportunities for policy making, planning, evaluation and improvement
- Reviewing data for accuracy and ensuring it that is presented in a clear and concise manner
- Generating reports and charts to help stakeholders understand the data they have
- Produce university vital statistics such as
- student enrolment and completion data
- student data by qualification type and gender
- student data by field of study and gender
- student data by institutional type
- academic staff complement by gender, institution, qualification and grade
- senior management staff by gender, institution, and qualification
- administrative staff by gender, institution and qualification
- Research funding and output
The intern should be studying towards a degree in Statistics or Econometrics a reputable university. He/she should also have good university grades for the courses covered so far and good “O” and “A” level results.
The incumbent is expected to have the following skills:
- Data analytics skills
- a clear understanding of statistical terms and concepts
- written and oral communication skills
- problem-solving skills
- the ability to communicate results and findings to non-statisticians
- a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- the ability to plan own work and meet deadlines
- the capacity to work alone and in teams.
