Prof Dzvimbo ceo_kpd@zimche.ac.zw; joined the ZIMCHE in December 2018 as the CEO. Prior to this appointment, he was the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and Research) and Vice Principal at the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) in South Africa from October 2014 to November 2018.  He was the founding Executive Dean of the College of Education at the University of South Africa (UNISA).  Prof. Dzvimbo was a Deputy Executive Dean in the College of Human Sciences at UNISA. He is the past Chief Editor of the Africa Education Review Journal (SA); the past Africa Regional Editor of the International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education (USA); and a past member of the editorial board of Teaching in Higher Education (UK).  He was appointed in 2014 by the Director General of UNESCO to be a member of an international board for the UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE) based in Moscow.  Prior to that appointment, he also served on another UNESCO board on ICTs in Education for five years.  He was a member of the board of the ZIMCHE.   Prior to his appointment to UNISA, Prof. Dzvimbo was a Professor of Education Management and later Head of the Department of Education Management at the University of Johannesburg.  In 2003, he became Rector of the African Virtual University (AVU) based in Nairobi, Kenya for five years from the World Bank in Washington, DC where he was a Senior Education Specialist in tertiary education Where he provided higher education sector support in the Caribbean, Ghana, Mozambique and Sierra Leone.   As Rector of the AVU in Kenya, he worked with almost 60% of the major universities on the African continent in ODeL.  While in the AVU, he led the development of an Open Education Resources (OERs) project in Teacher Education (Science Education) for Burundi, Kenya, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, and Uganda, with funding from the African Development Bank.   Prof. Dzvimbo was the founding Vice-Chancellor of the Zimbabwe Open University.   He was also a Dean in the Faculty of Education at the University of Zimbabwe.  He has worked as an educational consultant for bilateral and multilateral organizations and the Southern African Development Community in education projects on the African continent.  He also worked in several Provincial Education Departments in South Africa as a consultant in the education and training of school principals and in strategic management.   He held teaching positions at: the Prince of Wales Secondary School, Freetown-Sierra Leone;  the School of Basic Studies, Ahmadu Bello University – Nigeria; the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA) as a lecturer; the University of Zimbabwe and as a Dean and eventually Pro Vice Chancellor; the University of the Witwatersrand, as a Senior Lecturer; the Rand Afrikaans University, as an Associate Professor; and the University of Johannesburg, as a full Professor.  He obtained his PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (USA). He did consultancy work in Kenya, South Africa, Namibia, Nigeria, Mozambique, Malawi, Swaziland; and Uganda. Prof. Dzvimbo did his post-doctoral studies at Stanford University, and attended a course in the use of ICTs in Educational Planning at Harvard University.   He is currently the President of the Southern African Quality Assurance Network.

Prof Regis Chireshe Phd, is the current Chief Director Quality Assurance at the Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE). Holds a BSc Hon in Psychology (UZ), MSc Educational Psychology (UZ), FTEC (HEXCO), FETD (HEXCO), Outcome based Assessment in HE and ODL (UNISA) and  DEd  Psychology of Education (UNISA) . He is a registered educational psychologist with the Allied Health Professions Council of Zimbabwe. Has risen through the ranks of Lecturer, Senior lecturer and Associate Professor. Has been the Head of Department, Deputy Dean, Dean and Director of Quality Assurance and Academic Planning at Great Zimbabwe University. Has over 70 publications in referred journals and publication outlets. He has supervised 11 PhD students to completion. He serves on the editorial boards of a number of reputable journals.  He has been an external assessor and examiner for a number of national and international universities. He has worked as a Research Champion for Walter Sisulu University and as a Professor at the University of South Africa. Was a visiting Professor at Kyambogo University, Uganda.

Prof Felicity Z Gumbo (nee Chidziva) MBchB, MMed (Paediatrics), PhD joined ZIMCHE in 2020 under the portfolio Chief Director Life and Health Sciences. Before joining ZIMCHE, she was an Associate Professor in the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health, University of Zimbabwe and a Consultant Paediatrician at Harare Central Hospital. She was involved in clinical teaching of Postgraduate and Undergraduate Medical Students, supervision of postgraduate research projects and paediatric patient management at Harare Central Hospital. She is a former Chairperson of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health, University of Zimbabwe. A PhD graduate of the University of Oslo, she has researched “mother to child transmission of infectious diseases”, child mortality and morbidity with notable publications.  She was a founding Chairperson of the Paediatric Association Quality Assurance Committee, Chairperson of the National Verification of Measles Elimination Committee (MOHCC), Member of the National Certification Committee and (EPI), Ministry of health and Child Care, Zimbabwe and Core member of the National Immunisation Technical Advisory Group of Ministry Of Health Child Care.

Dr H. H. Chikuya

Dr Hilton H. Chikuya hchikuya@zimche.ac.zw; is the Principal Director in the Academic and Institutional Audits Directorate at the Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE). He joined the ZIMCHE in 2009.  Dr Chikuya is a holder of  a Doctor of Education (Ded) degree from the University of South Africa (UNISA). He is a specialist in Open and Distance Learning.  He is also holder of a master’s degree in Adult Education from the University of Zimbabwe where he also completed his Bachelor of Arts degree, a Graduate Certificate in Education and a Diploma in Adult Education.  He has vast experience in Higher Education where he  has served various roles including as a Dean of the Institute of Life Long Learning (Chinhoyi University and as Regional Director and Dean of  Student Services and support (ZOU).

Dr Chikuya was instrumental in developing Audit Instruments that are used for academic and institutional audits in the Universities registered by the ZIMCHE.

Manager: Internal and Quality Assurance Audit

Mr Takwana Mangwende mangwendet@zimche.ac.zw; is the Manager: Internal and Quality Assurance Audit at Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE) and Acting Director: Audit and Risk Management (ZIMCHE). He joined ZIMCHE in May 2016. He is a Public Accountant registered by Public Accountants and Auditors Board (PAAB). Prior to his ZIMCHE appointment, Takwana held several senior positions such as Senior Internal Auditor at Central Mechanical & Equipment Department(CMED), Internal Auditor for Steelbase (Pvt) Ltd, National Oil Company of Zimbabwe (NOCZIM), City of Harare, Lecturer at Women’s University in Zimbabwe(WUA), Financial Controller at Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC), Accountant at Zimbabwe Manpower Development Fund (ZIMDEF-MTB) amongst others. He is a Certified Public Accountant Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPA) and Certified Internal Control Specialist (CICS). Takwana holds a Master of Commerce in Accounting Degree, Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting, Higher Diploma in Accounting Southern Africa Association of Accountants (SAAA), and diplomas in Accountancy and Business Studies. He a member of the following institutes; ICPAZ, Public Accountants and Auditors Board(PAAB), Southern Africa Association of Accountants(SAAA) and IIA. He is an Independent (Board member) Director (Financial Advisor) of the TCSOT, an Education Committee (EDCOM) member for PAAB and CPA. Currently, a Public Sector Accounting Qualification Public Sector Accounting Qualification (PSAQ) ICSAZ finalist and a PhD student.

Mr George Mahembe is a:

Professional Accountant, Chartered Governance Professional, Registered Public Accountant, Business Consultant and Public Sector IPSAS Consultant with qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Corporate Administration, IPSAS and Governance coupled with diverse experience in private and public sectors spanning over twenty-four years in Financial Reporting, Accounting, Corporate Administration, Human Resources, Strategy and Risk Management. Strategic and highly innovative Finance and Governance Executive with capabilities to translate business vision into financial initiatives that improve performance, profitability, growth and financial stability.

 

George is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators and a Chartered Governance Professional (Zimbabwe). He is also a Registered Public Accountant with the Public Accountants and Auditors Board (PAAB), a Professional Accountant, a holder of a Master in Business Administration (MBA-Finance) degree and a Diploma in Management for Executives both from the University of Zimbabwe. Also obtained Qualifications in Business studies (IBAS), Business Bookkeeping and Accounts from the College of Professional Management (CPM-UK), an Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business and a Certificate in Business Ethics both from Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). A Certificate in International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) from the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA). Also a Commissioner of OATH.

Mr Jonathan Gandari jgandari@zimche.ac.zw; is the Manager: Marketing and Public Relations at the Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE). He joined ZIMCHE in March 2016. He is currently a DPhil (Marketing) Student at the Chinhoyi University of Technology. He holds a Master of Arts in Global Business and Journalism degree (Tsinghua University, China). He also completed a second Master of Arts degree in Media Studies at Rhodes University (South Africa). For his undergraduate degree, Jonathan studied a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communication degree. He holds diplomas in: Education; Journalism and Monitoring and Evaluation. Prior to joining the ZIMCHE, from 2010-2016, Jonathan worked for the Medical Partnership Initiative in Africa grant at the University of Zimbabwe College of Health Sciences. Working in collaboration with medical doctors from the Universities of Colorado Denver, Stanford University, Gorge Washington and the National Institute of Health (NIH) Jonathan helped in the establishment and publicity of the department of Health Professions Education for medical teachers in the college of Health Sciences.

Jonathan is a former Head of the school of Mass Communication and Journalism at the Harare Polytechnic where he trained Electronic and Print Journalists (2004-2006). His media career stints include at SABC radio news; (Durban 2007) CTA news; OOSAKA news; echinacities.com; Beijing Travel Guide etc. In his current position, Jonathan works to ensure the ZIMCHE harnesses communications to achieve its goals. He delivers the communications campaigns that support the Organization’s priorities.

His ambition is to tell the story of ZIMCHE in multiple languages including local indigenous languages and foreign international languages such as Chinese, French, Portuguese. His vision is to creatively reconfigure the higher education marketing system in Zimbabwe.

Ms Agnes Nyamarebvu anyamarebvu@zimche.ac.zw; is the Human Resources and Administration Officer at the Zimbabwe Council for Higher (ZIMCHE). In her current job she liaises with all the ZIMCHE directorates and units and provides all the relevant services in line with Human Resources and Administration.

She joined the ZIMCHE in April 2010. Before joining the ZIMCHE, Agnes served in the Public Service for more than a decade. During the tenure she acquired useful experiences in various posts in different government of Zimbabwe ministries including the Ministry of Education, Office of the President and Cabinet, Ministry of Rural Resettlement and Social Amenities as well as the Public Service Commission. Agnes has also worked in Higher Education Institutions including  the Harare Institute of Technology’s Human Resources Department.   She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Politics and Administration from the University of Zimbabwe, a diploma in Human Resources Management (IPMZ) and a Diploma in Payroll Management from the Institute of Payroll Administrators.

Mr Samson Nyawo snyawo@zimche.ac.zw; is the Accounting Officer in the Finance Department at the Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE). He joined ZIMCHE in February 2010. Prior to this appointment he was the Chief Accountant in the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources in the Finance and Administration. He worked in the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development as acting Chief Accountant in the Finance and Administration. He is currently a master’s student in Accounting and Finance at the National University of Science and Technology. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce Accounting Honours degree from the Midlands State University. In addition to the above qualifications, he holds a Diplomas in Financial Accounting with Institute of Administration and Commerce (IAC); Computer – Based Financial Management with the Institute of Finance Management, Dar es Salam, Tanzania; Accounts Levels 1 and 2 with the Pitman Examinations Institute; and Accounting Levels 3 and 4 with the Pitman Examinations Institute.

Ms Elizabeth Maganga emaganga@zimche.ac.zw; has more than 20 years of experience as a Personal Assistant at Executive level.  Elizabeth joined ZIMCHE  in 2009 as the Personal Assistant to the Deputy Chief Executive Officer. She holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Management and Corporate Governance from Midlands State University, and BSc Degree in Human Resources Management from Zimbabwe Open University. In addition, she holds three diplomas: A Diploma in Office Management/Administration; and another Diploma in Secretarial Studies; and Diploma in Payroll Management.  She is a self-starter and a bundle of energy. She is also farmer. She enjoys reading motivational books and spending quality time with her family.

Mrs. Caroline Fohlo cfohlo@zimche.ac.zw; is currently the acting Officer Qualifications Assessment in the Directorate of Registration and Accreditation. She holds a master’s degree in Community Psychology from Midlands State University and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Psychology from Zimbabwe Open University and a Diploma in Audio Transcription.  She joined the ZIMCHE in 2009 as Personal Assistant to the Principal Director in the Registration and Accreditation Directorate. From August 2013 to June 2019, Caroline  worked as a Personal Assistant to the ZIMCHE Chief Executive Officer and performed several administrative duties. Before joining ZIMCHE, Caroline worked for the Midlands State University Faculty of Education.

Mrs. Molly R. Ndlovu mndlovu@zimche.ac.zw;  is the Personal Assistant to the Principal Director Academic and Institutional Audits at the Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE). She has served in this role since joining the ZIMCHE  in April 2009. Mrs. Ndlovu is a holder of a Pitman Top Flight Secretarial qualification.   In her current job she carries out important takes of arranging the itinerary and logistics for the Directorate of Academic and Institutional Audits.   She also prepares budgets for Audit visits and facilitates travel arrangements for both Secretariat and Peer Reviewers. Mrs. Ndlovu types Audit Reports and any other day to day duties as assigned by the Principal Director.

Her vast experience in the Ministry of Public Service and TelOne (Pvt) Ltd. (the then Posts and Telecommunications Corporation) has groomed her to serve the ZIMCHE.

As one of the staff who witnessed the pioneer stage of the ZIMCHE, it is her  wish to remain a meaningful asset of the organization and continue to raise the flag of  the Council.

Mrs. Tsitsi Goredema tgoredema@zimche.ac.zw; is the Personal Assistant to the Director for the Academic and Institutional Audits. She joined ZIMCHE in May 2009.  She holds a master’s degree in Development Studies and a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Women and Gender Studies. She is self-motivated and goal-oriented person with experience in organising and coordinating workshops, symposia and meetings for the Directorate.

Before joining ZIMCHE, Tsitsi was employed as an Executive Assistant to the Deputy Auditor General’s Office. Tsitsi is passionate about women’s education. She believes in the enabling power of women in  the socio-economic development of societies in Zimbabwe.

Ms Khangelani Shoko kkshoko@zimche.ac.zw; is the Personal Assistant to the Principal Director: Registration and Accreditation. She joined the Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE) in 2009. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Community Psychology from Midlands State University; a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Psychology from the Open University of Zimbabwe; a Diploma in Secretarial Studies and a Certificate in Secretarial Studies, both obtained at Masvingo Polytechnic.  She is currently working on her PhD thesis.

 

She has vast experience on Higher and Tertiary Education Programme Accreditation processes and Higher Education Foreign Qualifications Assement.  She provided technical assistence  in the the development of the Minimum Bodies of Knowledge and Skills for higher education institutions in Zimbabwe.

 

Prior to joining the ZIMCHE, between 2009 and 2012 Ms Shoko worked as a Personal Assistant to the Principal Director: Human Resources, Administration and Finance. From 2005 to 2008 Ms Shoko was employed at Midlands State University as a Personal Assistant to the University’s Registrar. From 2002 to 2004 she was with the Ministry of Local Government, Public Works and Planning Development, as a Personal Assistant to the Provincial Administrator, Masvingo Province.  From 1998 to 2001, Ms Shoko worked at KPMG Chartered Accountants, Masvingo Branch, as a Personal Assistant to the Branch Manager.   From 1995 to 1997 she worked at the Business Management Consultants (Pvt) Ltd in Chiredzi as an Administrative Secretary.

 

From 1988 to 1990 she was employed by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education as a temporary teacher at Mbirashava Primary School and Vanguard Mine School respectively, in Mberengwa District, Midlands Province.

 

Ms Shoko’s ambition is to fully develop herself academically and actively contribute to the overall success of ZIMCHE by delivering new and different services as well as solutions to the clients and the community she serves.

Ms Zvinatsei Dandure zdandure@zimche.ac.zw  is the Personal Assistant to the Director of Finance at the Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE). In her current job, her duties include liaising with all the ZIMCHE directorates and units. She also manages the diary of the  Finance Directorate.   Zvinatsei joined the ZIMCHE in 2009.

Before joining the ZIMCHE, Zvinatsei worked in the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Science and Technology Development as a Personal Assistant to Director Finance.  Zvinatsei holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Women’s University in Africa (WUA), a diploma in Human Resource Management (IPMZ), a diploma in Payroll Management (Institute of Payroll Administrators) as well as a diploma in Executive Secretarial Studies (HEXCO).

Ms Florence Mutanhaurwa fmutanhaurwa@zimche.ac.zw; works in the Marketing and Public Relations Unit at the Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE). She joined the ZIMCHE in 2009 as a receptionist. Ms Mutanhaurwa is a holder of Executive Certificate in Public Relations and Business Promotion; Executive Certificate in Events management and Administration; Certificate in Business English; and Certificate in Text Production. Ms Mutanhaurwa is currently studying for Executive Certificate in Business Marketing.

Ms Priscilla Gwandu pgwandu@zimche.ac.zw;   is a janitor at the Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education (ZIMCHE). She joined the ZIMCHE in November 2011.  Priscilla is a holder of a Receptionist Certificate. In her current job as janitor she performs the following duties: Cleaning of offices; windows; making teas for the meetings; sourcing quotations for cleaning material from supermarkets; locking offices after working hours and operating the ZIMCHE electricity generator during the week.  She also prepares the budget for the purchase of the cleaning material and looks after the general upkeep of the ZIMCHE physical facilities.

Her wish is to become a receptionist and move to higher positions along that career path.
